Blog #3: Comic Magazine Page

2020 February 21st

Week 3

On this project, I referred back to my 50 illustrations that I drew for my 50 drawings and created a page from a magazine comic. At the beginning of the work I was focusing on keeping the main idea of having textures be the concept of the page but later changed to combining some of my favorite sketches and things in everyday life into each part of the comic. I also had some inspiration from my roommate who was in the room helping me with ideas for images to draw. I was going to try and tell a story through the magazine comic but realized the effort and creativity an artist must have to do so and I find that quite impressive looking at more artworks now. I told people to try and guess which piece of the comic I did first and most people thought I started with the top right and worked my way down but it was actually the opposite, I found that interesting. While working on this project as well, I realized how important the element line can be in creating art and the power it can have over the whole piece to create solid straight and consistent lines.
